A Tough Decision

I had to make a decision about my training and I have to admit it was a tough one. I've been doing this endurance event thing for 6 years and even when I've been injured I've followed through and done my races. There have been marathons where I have trained my littls tushy off and same last season with my triathlon. I gave it my all and it paid off. I have not been able to do that this season though. :o( and that has been bothering me quite a bit.

I am finally recovering from being sick but being sick took me out of cycling for 3 weeks. That's not good. Before getting sick though I was only riding on Saturday's, not good. Now that I'm not sick I would be able to ride on Saturday's but I would continue to not be able to ride during the week. We have some things going on. I promise soon you will know :o) it's good something good but it's something that needs my 100% attention which means I can't give that 100% attention to my riding. Riding only on Saturday's is kicking my butt and now that we are getting into the longer mileage it's just going to get worse. Anyway, after talking to my hubby and coaches I've decided that the best thing to do is to NOT do Solvang :o( I just don't have the time to commit to my training. It's all for a good reason and the good thing is Solvang isn't going anywhere I can join the team again next winter. I am still going to be on the volunteer staff as the web captain, I will still be helping out on Saturday's as SAG support and I will still travel to Solvang to cheer my teammates on. I just won't be training for it anymore and doing the race.

I am very sad but it's a smart choice for me right now.

My goal is to do some Sunday short rides and start running again now that it's beginning to stay light out longer. In June we start training for the Chicago Marathon and by then things will have calmed down quite a bit and I'll be able to once again focus on training.

I really liked my riding group and will miss them but I'm happy I can still be out there to support them :o)

Happy New Year!

Wow, I can't believe we are 9 days into the new year and I haven't written a single post :o(

Let's see last time I wrote was the 28th and guess what? I am STILL sick :o( On Monday the 29th I felt okay and managed to work an entire day. I thought I was getting better and what was good is that I had never really gotten super sick. On Tuesday it was a WHOLE different story. :o( I did manage to go to work but I started feeling pretty icky by 2pm I was feeling really bad and my boss finally told me to go home cause I did not look good. I went home and straight to bed. Wednedsay was New Years and I was still feeling icky so we decided that we would stay home. No New Year's Parties for us :o(

We had invited Olivia over but told her not to feel like she had to come. She did though :o) and we had a very yummy crab dinner, watched tv, rang in the New Year, watched more tv and finally at around 2am we all passed out. In the morning my hubby cooked us a very yummy breakfast. Olivia went home and I went back to bed. I was not feeling great and it seemed like the cough was getting worse and worse. Luckily since it was New Years Day we had the day off work so Rocky and I just hung out at home and did NOTHING. I think I stayed in my jammies the entire day.

Friday I still didn't feel good but I did go to work but my boss called me around 9am and said I could go home because he'd decided to take the day off. I stayed til noon doing a few things and answering emails but once I was done I left and back to bed. GEESH!!

I was too sick to ride but I still went out to the training to take pictures. I drove around with another teammate that wasn't riding and Daisy. We took pictures, cheered our teammates on and made sure everyone was okay as they went on their 40 mile ride. We headed to the water stop and chatted a littlle with everyone and then headed home. Guess what I did? Went home, got my jammies on and went back to bed :o( Rocky and I did leave the house in the evening to run an errand but after that we were back home.

Sunday we did actually leave the house the entire day to venture into the city for a day at the museums with Olivia.

We started out at the de Young Museum, then went over to the Japanse Gardens and ended our day at the Legion of Honor. It was a cold day but a very clear nice day to be out there. I really enjoyed our day. Before heading home we had dinner over in the Marina District. We finally made it home around 6ish and I passed out, or attempted to at about 7pm.

On Monday I finally decided to go to the doctor. I was diagnosed with bronchtis :o( boo, hoo. The good news though is that I got lots of meds which meant sleep and finally being on the road to recovery. I've never had bronchitis and would be very happy if I don't ever have it again, YUCK!!!
